Local
Area
As
Exford is in the heart of Exmoor (the bridge over the River Exe
is considered by many to be the central point) it is easy to explore
all areas of the National Park without anywhere being too far to
get to.
Exford
is surrounded by breathtaking moorland, woodland and farmland scenery
just waiting to be explored on:
foot:
it is possible to take circular walks direct from Exmoor Lodge
and so not need to use the car for several days
horseback:
either bring your own horse with you (there is plenty of stabling
nearby) or enjoy escorted rides offered by several riding stables
bicycle:
the hills of Exmoor provide a real challenge, whether on, or off
road
motorbike:
there are some excellent roads to try out around Exmoor that are
never very far from a good cuppa or cream tea

There
is so much to do. Here are just a few suggestions:
Try some sports- fishing, water sports, horse riding, golf
Explore some of the very pretty villages and towns and treat yourself
to some retail therapy or a cream tea
Experience the water powered cliff railway between Lynton and Lynmouth
Take a safari and see places you probably wouldn't find on your
own
If you fancy a paddle - why not head for the beach. The nearest
are Dunster, Minehead, Croyde, or go a bit further and have some
fun at Woolacombe
Discover the National Trust properties and villages in the area
Take in the wildlife - it's all around you
Exmoor
is a National Park that you won't forget in a hurry. Whether you
are staying for one night or longer. There is so much to see and
do that you will want to come back and explore some more.
